Feeling is one of the earliest paintings to emerge from what became David Hanes' current practice — working from hand-held sketches made outdoors and transforming them in the studio. The last of a group of works from that period, it carries the directness and energy of a practice finding its voice: crude, immediate, and fully charged with colour.
