Rock Climber

Visual art curiosity, with wearable jewellery brooch

Rocks, Brass, Silver, Sculpey, Amethyst, Agate, Aventurine, Citrine, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite

A rock-bodied climber scales the surface of a larger rock climbing wall, dotted with gemstone climbing grips, surrounded by stoney-stared onlookers.

The rock climber character is removable, able to be worn climbing up clothing as a brooch, then returned to scaling the climbing wall at the end of the outing.

Mia has shaped the stone grips by hand using stone carving lapidary, including Amethyst, Agate, Aventurine, Citrine, Lapis Lazuli, and Malachite.

The limbs of the rock climber brooch have been formed from brass and silver with traditional metalsmithing techniques.
Mia enjoys discovering items in beachcombing and mudlarking adventures to support and inspire her designs, and bring an element of history to the pieces. This playful piece includes stones and rocks from such a treasure hunt.
