‘Inscriptions’ are a series of experimental texts hand-welded onto mild steel. There are narrative hints, diaristic gestures, associative notes. The heat has warped the sheets: they become organic, bodily. The permanence of metalwork here resists monumentalism, instead preserving passing thoughts. On the back of the polished surface, each word becomes alienated: flipped and outlined with blues and smoke from the machine. Everything is glowing. Misspellings, splatter and mechanical accidents give these works a human vulnerability.
